I’ve rebuilt my business every two to three years as an active-duty military spouse— state after state, market after market. For most, that’s a one-time achievement. For me, it became a way of life.
The real estate industry found me in the most unexpected of places: a bar. I worked as a bartender, and one night, I met a gentleman who stopped by for a drink. He was a contractor at a development company. Over time, we established a friendship. “You know,” he said one night, “we need help in the office. Why don’t you come work with us?”
That invitation changed everything. I took his offer and became a project coordinator. I researched the land they were planning to build on, reviewed property codes, negotiated with owners, and worked with city officials on requirements. One day, I watched a REALTOR® come in, sign a few papers, and walk away with thousands of dollars. That was my “aha” moment—I realized I was in the wrong industry.
Stability has always been a driving force for me, and for good reason. When I lost my dad at 15, we lost everything. My younger sisters and I lived in foster homes and shelters briefly until we were reuniting with my mom. My family had a generational cycle of poverty, and I was determined to break it.
Building a foundation of financial security became a top priority. I went back to school to earn my associate’s degree in business while working three jobs, obtaining my real estate license and raising my sisters and my family.
Once I got my real estate license, the investors I had been working with began using me as their REALTOR®, and my business grew quickly. After a successful run in real estate, I wanted to put my business degree to use and opened an MMA and boxing gym. That’s where I met my husband, Jackson, who was training for the Marine Corps MMA team.
Marrying Jackson meant embracing the military spouse lifestyle, which involved relocating every two to three years. Each move meant learning a new market, getting licensed in a new state, and rebuilding my business from scratch. Since 2012, I’ve repeated this process again and again; I became a top producer wherever I moved, despite short stays. The brokerage I worked for had different rules in each region, so I launched Venus Doan Realty to create the consistency I needed as a military spouse.
Jackson and I have a beautiful family with seven children and two grandchildren. Outside of real estate, I love serving my local communities and military families. I regularly volunteer with my church and military family programs, mainly in hospitality and outreach. One of my favorite trips was a mission to Africa with my church. My dream is to open a transitional housing center for homeless veterans — a temporary facility where they can detox, recover, and reintegrate into the community.
I started with nothing—no safety net, no roadmap, no one to show me how it was done—just a deep refusal to accept that poverty was my story. Real estate gave me the tools to rewrite it. But what surprised me most wasn't the success; it was discovering that the same drive that pushed me to survive could also be used to serve. Every client I help, every veteran I hope to house one day: that's the legacy I'm building.
I bring over 20 years of experience to my work, which has allowed me to develop true expertise and a refined, client-centered approach. I specialize in military relocations and have built my system around what I once wished REALTORS® had done—anticipating needs, simplifying complexity, and delivering a more thoughtful experience. I provide comprehensive guidance, from school information and neighborhood insights to video walk-through, neighborhood tours and in-depth market analysis. I carefully evaluate each home to determine its true value and help my clients understand pricing with clarity.
I’m well-versed in VA loans, investment opportunities and strategic advice when it comes to crafting competitive offers. As a strong negotiator, I position my clients exactly where they need to be, often securing advantages like covered closing costs. I take a solution-oriented approach to every transaction, keeping deals on track and holding all the moving parts together. My focus is always on creating creative, win-win outcomes that protect my clients while helping them move forward with confidence.
Sincerely,

Venus Doan
